Following the success of the first English Summer Camp from July to August last year, Tsinghua launched its second Camp on June 27 for students who have just completed their freshman year.
Nearly 3,200 students wearing red, green, yellow and white T-shirts packed the gym for the opening ceremony.
Tsinghua Vice President Wang Jinsong, Professor Luo Lisheng, Dean of Foreign Languages Department, Professor Sherman Day, former president of Georgia State University and some of the participating foreign teachers attended the event.
Vice President Wang gave a speech thanking everyone who has contributed to the success of the English camp. He said the goal of the camp is “learning English to enhance our communications.”
He also instructed the students to commit themselves to serious study, active participation, and excellent cooperation.
The Summer Camp will run through July 14.
