Research Interests

Dr. Bin Zhao’s research focuses on the sources and formation processes of atmospheric aerosols, and the interactions and coordinated control of aerosol pollution and climate change. He works extensively on developing and applying atmospheric models to better understand the sources and formation mechanisms of aerosols, including secondary organic aerosol. He also has rich expertise in combining observational data analysis and model simulations to further our understanding of the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and climate, such as new particle formation and the impact on clouds, and the impact of aerosols on ice nucleation and ice/mixed-phase clouds. He is also dedicated to investigating effective strategies and policies for the coordinated mitigation of aerosol pollution and climate change.
