Introduction
Tsinghua-WashU Joint Education Program in Environmental Engineering was launched by Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering (EECE) of Washington University, and School of Environment (SOE) of Tsinghua University, to prepare world-class new scientific research talents. The program allows Tsinghua undergraduate students to study at WashU and for WashU students to study at Tsinghua.

Degrees
?Bachelor of Environmental Science and Engineering
?Bachelor of Water Supply and Wastewater Science and Engineering
from Tsinghua at the end of the fourth (4th) academic year.
? Master of Science in Natural Resources and Environment(SEAS) at the end of the fifth (5th) academic year.
? Master of Landscape Architecture (SEAS) at the end of the sixth (6th) academic year from WashU.
Students in the EECE Master of Engineering program can typically complete the degree in one year.
Students in the EECE doctoral program can typically complete the degree four-to-five years after starting the program.
Qualification of Applicants
? A preliminary selection of candidates by Tsinghua at the end of applicants second (2nd) year of undergraduate study and based on their academic performance and proficiency in English;
? Successful application and admission as a non-degree undergraduate student to WashU , and a completion of all courses required in the third (3rd) year at Tsinghua;
? During the fourth (4th) academic year, contingent upon satisfactory performance, Students in the JEPEE maybe nominated by EECE for continued ,graduate-level participation in the JEPEE. There are two opportunities:
WashU Master of Engineering in EECE;
WashU Ph.D program in EECE.
Graduation Requirements
? During their fourth (4th) academic year, Students admitted to the JEPEE will engage in a full-time course of study that is oriented toward completing: (1) the requirements of their bachelor’s degree at Tsinghua; and (2) earning credits toward a WashU “Certi?cate in Engineering Science Studies” for International Partner Students.
? Students will be required to take a full load of courses and are expected to complete a senior thesis supervised by an EECE faculty member; co-supervision by a Tsinghua faculty member is encouraged but not mandatory (12 credits per term).
