The acceptance meeting of the National Major Science and Technology Program for Water Pollution Control and Treatment (WPCT program) "River Network around the Taihu Lake: The Area of Urban Water Environment Improvement Technology" was held at the Xijiao Hotel in Beijing on October 17. The total 32 sub-topics of the six projects in the program sailed through the final acceptance.
Of the 12 experts who attended the meeting there was Hang Shijun from Beijing the General Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute, Song Xutong from China Urban Construction Design & Research Institute, and Xie Yingxia from China Academy of Urban Planning & Design. They spoke highly of the sub-topics for solving the major difficulties and breaking through some key bottlenecks in water pollution control and treatment, which laid an important technical foundation for future development of WPCT programs in the period of the “12th Five Year Plan”. Representatives from the WPCT program Office of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Tsinghua Office of Scientific R&D also attended the meeting, which was hosted by Vice Dean of SOE Duan Lei.
