The National Award for Science and Technology Progress (NASTP) ceremony 2011 was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on February 14, 2012. Party and national leaders including Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Li Changchun and Li Keqiang attended the ceremony.
Wen Jiabao, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council, delivered a speech on behalf of the Party Central Committee and State Council. Li Keqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, presided over the ceremony. Liu Yandong, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, announced the results of NASTP.
The project conducted by the research group from SOE regarding the sulfur dioxide emission reduction theories and key technologies in China was awarded the second prize of NASTP 2011. Prof. Hao Jiming, Prof. He Kebin, Prof. Wang Shuxiao and Prof. Duan Lei are main members of this research group.
Besides the above prize, a total of 19 scientific and technological achievements of THU received national awards in 2011, which ranks it No.1 among Chinese colleges and universities. All the awards include 5 National Awards for Natural Sciences, 4 National Awards for Technological Invention and 10 NASTP.
