The Performance of Six Projects on Taihu Lake of Major Science and Technology Program for Water Pollution Control and Treatment (MPWPCT) were sequentially evaluated and tested by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MHUD) of the People’s Republic of China in Beijing and Changzhou on July 12~13 and July 16~18.
The appraisal groups checked 6 demonstration projects in Changzhou and Wuxi, reviewed the outcome materials and heard the reports of all project leaders, including Professor Chen Jining, President of THU and the General Leader of Projects on Taihu Lake. The defense was approved by all appraisal group experts.
These six projects started in 2008. Research groups of these projects spent 3 years working on 42 key technologies covering areas of WWP improvement, wastewater advanced treatment and reuse, sewage sludge treatment and disposal, drainage system optimization, eco-remediation of urban waters, safety management of urban water environment and water environment system planning. All projects totally achieved 22 sets of equipment, 67 patents, 159 published papers, 3 technological standards and 34 demonstration projects in Jiangsu province.
