Mr. Bach kindly said to the volunteer representatives, "We deeply feel your sincerity, thank you!"
Let's take a look at the exciting moments with Dibo.
What the volunteer said
I was both honored and thrilled when Mr. Bach handed me the badge and said to us with a smile, "We deeply feel your sincerity, thank you!” At that moment, the volunteer experience of the past month unfolded in my mind like a slide show. It was a month of busyness, emotion, true friendships, and fond memories that will last a lifetime.
Mr. Bach's recognition is not only for myself, but also for every individual who has been working hard for the Winter Olympics. Each and every one of the volunteers who have dedicated themselves to this event is important for the Winter Olympics, telling a story of China embracing the world with confidence to all mankind. While the 2022 Winter Olympics is coming to an end, the volunteer spirit never ends. In the future, I will tell more volunteer stories in line with the new era with dedication and enthusiasm.
“See you in Milan in 2026”
Mr. Francesco and Liu Dipo
During the Winter Olympics, Liu Dibo formed a deep friendship with Mr. Francesco, President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).
Before Mr. Francesco left Beijing, Liu Dipo wanted to give him a special gift. Liu remembered that he had brought with him some 3D printed white models from the Tsinghua Art Museum, and one of them was a chair model of the work of the famous Italian designer Mendini. "If I embellish some winter Olympics elements on the chair, wouldn't it be a nice story about an Italian old man meeting with the Beijing Winter Olympics?" Liu, who never learned painting, spent a whole afternoon designing the chair with “BEIJING 2022” and painting the chair with his acrylic paints.
When receiving the gift, Ricci Bitti’s eyes glinted with surprise and emotion. "Oh my God, this gift is so precious. Dibo, you are really a bridge between Chinese and Italian culture. I'm going to put it in my handbag and bring it back on the plane with me."
Mr. Francesco gave Dibo a program for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. When Liu dibo opened it, he found a long thank-you note hidden inside:
“As an outstanding friend, you have made my stay at Beijing 2022 enjoyable and easy-peasy.” “You are a young man that deserves a great future.” “Do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of help for you.”
See you in 2026, and also in Brisbane in 2032!
The handwritten thank-you note from Mr. Francesco to Liu Dibo
Thumbs up to volunteers: “Light up themselves and shine on others.”
With ice and snow as the medium, we gathered in the Beijing Winter Olympics, an event which spreads passion and dream and inspires courage and strength.
In this winter, the boundaries of language, country and age kept dissolving, and the inspiration and strength that the Olympic spirit conveyed to Tsinghua people will be continuing.
In Beijing Winter Olympics 2022, a total of 64 volunteers from SOE participated in various tasks. Each volunteer was like a snowflake in this winter, and their volunteer work was a beam of sunlight which has come together to warm the whole world.
Let's give a thumbs up to these volunteers who “light up themselves and shine on others”!
