Delegation from Washington University in St. Louis Visits the School of Environment

On the afternoon of March 29, Aaron Bobick, Dean of the McKelvey School of Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (hereinafter referred to as "WashU"), Teresa Sarai, Associate Dean, and Bill Xu, Director of WashU's Shanghai Office, visited the School of Environment (SOE), Tsinghua University. The delegation was received by Liu Shuming, SOE Dean, Jiang Jingkun, Associate Dean of the Research & Development Affairs Office at Tsinghua University, Yue Dongbei, SOE Associate Dean, and Zhang Xiaoyuan, SOE Assistant Dean.

Liu Shuming extended a warm welcome to Professor Aaron Bobick and his delegation. He noted that the SOE has a close and longstanding relation with WashU's McKelvey School of Engineering. Professors from both institutions have engaged in numerous collaborations, and several SOE graduates have obtained their Ph.D. degrees from WashU's McKelvey School of Engineering. Among them, Dr. Jiang Jingkun, a distinguished alumnus, is now a professor at SOE as well as the Associate Dean of the Research & Development Affairs Office at Tsinghua University. He also expressed that the two parties shall strengthen collaboration in research and talent cultivation in key areas such as environmental health and sustainable development.

Aaron Bobick expressed his pleasure again and provided an overview of WashU's McKelvey School of Engineering. He stated that the "3+1+X Program" is progressing smoothly and expressed his hope to explore more collaborations with the Tsinghua School of Environment in the future.

Zhang Xiaoyuan gave an overview of SOE, along with details about the collaborative "3+1+X Program". He expressed his hope for increased mutual visits and deeper cooperation between the two institutions in the future.

Both sides agree that there has been a solid collaboration foundation between two schools and plan to further cooperate in teaching and research in areas such as environmental health and sustainable development.
