Water Cycle, Led by Founding Editor-in-Chief Hu Hongying from the School of Environment, Indexed in ESCI and Other Databases

According to Web of Science, the English journal Water Cycle has been officially included in three major databases: ESCI, Biological Abstracts, and BIOSIS Previews. The journal is expected to receive its first impact factor in 2025. All articles published since its inception in 2020 (Volume 1, Issue 1) will be included in these databases. Water Cycle is the official journal of the Committee of Water Treatment and Reuse of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (hereinafter referred to as “the Committee”). Professor Hu Hongying, Director of the Committee, Professor of the School of Environment, Tsinghua University, and Dean of Xiuzhong College, serves as the founding editor-in-chief of the journal.

Water Cycle is a journal co-hosted by the Committee of Water Treatment and Reuse of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the China Science Publishing & Media Ltd.(CSPM), and Elsevier's KeAi Publishing. The journal aims to facilitate the interdisciplinary integration of water cycle research with various fields, including environmental engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, hydraulic engineering, water resources, water environment, aquatic ecology, hydrology, geosciences, fluid mechanics, and meteorology. It is committed to accelerating the rapid development of water cycle research, nurturing innovative concepts and cutting-edge technologies for future water cycle systems, and supporting the sustainable use of water resources.

Since its inception, Water Cycle has adhered to the guiding principle of “providing useful industry information and leading the development of engineering science”. It aims to showcase China’s achievements in the water industry on the global stage, promote the international presence of China’s water sector, and offer Chinese professionals access to advanced and practical foreign achievements. The journal maintains high-quality and high-standard publication practices, and steadily enhances its influence. Water Cycle has been indexed by multiple authoritative databases, including ESCI, Ei Compendex, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS Previews, DOAJ, Scopus, and EBSCOhost. It has also been selected into the “Classification Directory of High-Quality Science & Technology Journals on Environmental Sciences”, led by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, as well as the “WJCI Report (2023)”. In the Scopus database, the journal has achieved a CiteScore of 6.9 for 2022 and a CiteScore tracker of 9.1 for 2023, ranking in the Q1 zone of multiple relevant disciplines. The homepage of the journal is: keaipublishing.com/en/journals/water-cycle/

ESCI

ESCI aims to include high-quality, peer-reviewed English journals that are of regional significance and emerging in scientific fields. Once a journal is indexed in ESCI, it undergoes further professional evaluation and selection, which potentially leads to inclusion in more prestigious databases such as the SCIE, SSCI, and A&HCI.

BIOSIS Previews

Clarivate’s BIOSIS Previews series of databases (referred to as BP) includes BIOSIS Previews, BIOSIS Citation Index, and Biological Abstracts, among others. This collection draws from over 5,000 journals, international conferences, review articles, books, patent literature, monographs, and reports. It encompasses documents from more than 90 countries and regions worldwide.

Biological Abstracts focuses on literature in the fields of life and biomedical sciences. It covers peer-reviewed articles from US journals and other international journals.

BIOSIS Previews is an index database for life science abstracts. It spans all areas of life sciences, including biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, botany, clinical and experimental medicine, pharmacology, zoology, agriculture, and veterinary medicine. It includes over 5,000 biological and life science journals from more than 90 countries, as well as related international conferences, review articles, books, and patent information.
